Job Fair

San Diego Zoo:

The first company I am choosing to blog about is the San Diego Zoo. In a potential employee they are looking for someone with flexible hours who can work any day out of the week and even on holidays. They want someone who can work whenever they need that person to. The job they have open right now is a merchandising sales clerk. This person should be able to keep the sales items clean, the merchandises well stocked and must be able to perform related duties as required. The applicant must have excellent customer service, cash handling and communication skills. Lastly the person applying has to be at least sixteen years of age. The only part of this description I do not fit is the flexible work hours. I would not be able to work any day of the week or any hour for that matter. I am a clean person and I have very good people skills I would be able to do any and everything that would be asked of me. These skills are well needed because if a person were to become a merchandise sales clerk they would be dealing with customers all day and if they do not have excellent customer service than there is a good chance that the person would either not be hired or would get fired. Customer service is the biggest thing in sales if you do not satisfy the customer than you have no luck in selling anything. I feel I would be about to satisfy any customer with whatever he or she may need because I am a very kind person and I get along with anyone and everyone. I would want to work here because one I love animals and two I fit the job description perfectly, minus the flexibility.

Knott’s Soak City:

The second job I looked during the job fair that I wanted to blog about was Knott’s soak city. There isn’t much potential the employers are looking for in an employee. They actually have competitive hourly wages and flexible scheduling. The jobs they offer include lifeguards, guest services, food service, merchandise (like the SD Zoo) and park services. There weren’t any skills really mentioned in the job description, just what they had. It seemed to me that they are really just trying to get people to apply to the water park. I think I would actually enjoy working at this place because the work hours are flexible and that is really what I need. I would also enjoy the working environment because I love the water and I would be surrounded by it all day. I would be able to get discounts and free tickets for my family and friends. The whole thing just sounds really fun and exciting. What I also like is that they give the option of having advancement in the company like say I really enjoyed working there but my seasonal job is over what then? Well I would be able to get a higher position there and I would be able to continue to work there. I really liked this job and I’m beginning to really consider working there. At first I felt I would not get anything from this job fair but I am now realizing that there are a lot of jobs out there that may be fun and entertaining and I would be getting paid as well.
